Security Blue Team
Blue Team Level 1 (BTL1)
Practical defensive security, covering phishing analysis, threat intelligence, digital forensics, SIEM and incident response.
About the certificationI’m Jordon, an IT professional in the UK.
My work brings together systems, security, cloud services and the practical decisions behind them. I’m interested in understanding the whole picture and making considered improvements.
I’m particularly interested in cybersecurity and automation, and I enjoy the variety that comes with working across different areas of IT. Learning something new and then trying it out is a big part of what keeps me interested.
At the moment, I’m working towards a security analyst role. I’d like to build on my experience with systems, cloud infrastructure and security controls, and spend more of my time investigating alerts, understanding threats and responding to incidents.
As you can probably tell, I’m not a web designer.

I administer, secure and improve the company’s IT environment, and contribute to decisions about the technology the business uses.
Windows and Linux servers, virtualisation, storage and networking. Deployment, monitoring, backups, remote access and lifecycle planning keep the environment dependable.
Access controls, authentication, security tooling and system hardening. I contribute to access reviews, technical remediation, documentation and compliance evidence.
Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory administration, including licensing, user lifecycles, groups and permissions across cloud and on-premises environments. I also help manage our Azure infrastructure as part of the team, including virtual machines, containers and databases.
Web servers, hosting and e-commerce infrastructure. DNS, domains, TLS certificates and Cloudflare, alongside production maintenance and operational troubleshooting.
GitHub, developer access, DevOps and SecOps tooling, and deployment infrastructure. Scripting, automation and integrations make recurring administration more consistent.
Product research, supplier evaluation, licensing, purchasing and infrastructure planning. Internal applications and user support, with decisions informed by security, reliability, cost and maintainability.
A few things I’ve put the study time into.

Core knowledge of 3CX phone systems and business communications.
About the certificationBeing there for people matters to me.
I care about kindness, opportunity and helping people feel included. Whether someone is facing a difficult time or needs the chance to learn, I want to support the people making things a little easier.
Good information and a listening ear can mean a great deal when life feels uncertain. I support Lymphoma Action’s work to help people affected by lymphoma, including their families and friends.
I value the combination of clear information, someone to talk to and a community that understands. People deserve that kind of care and reassurance.
Meet Lymphoma ActionI support Every Child Online because a computer can be the start of so much more than getting online. It can be a first attempt at coding, making something creative, discovering an interest or building the confidence to try.
I’d like more young people to have that opportunity, whatever their circumstances. That’s why the charity’s work to improve access to technology means something to me.
Meet Every Child OnlineMy support for these charities is personal and independent.
